We have received word that the 2012 Black Hills 100 will be a qualifier for the 2013 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in France, one of the most well known, and difficult, ultramarathons in the world! UTMB routinely draws a field of elite ultrarunners from Europe and the United States. In order to qualify, a runner must accumulate a total of 5 points from the official list of qualifying events. The Black Hills 100M is worth 4 points, the 100K is 3 points and the 50M is 2 points. For more information on UTMB, visit their website at www.ultratrailmb.com. Take note that the number of points each race is worth is determined by perceived difficulty of the course, taking into account distance and elevation change. The maximum number of points a single race can be worth is 4. Unless we’re mistaken, you have two years to accumulate the points, but again, check the UTMB site for details.
